Dr.
Eric Hockstad, M.D., F.A.C.C. - President joined Kansas
City Cardiology Associates in 1996 and is the director of Interventional
Cardiology at Research Medical Center. He practices general cardiology
and has a primary interest in interventional cardiology. He attended
the University of Michigan for his undergraduate studies and medical
school. He completed internal medicine and general cardiology training
at the University of Minnesota. After completing his cardiology
fellowship, he was selected for an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship
at the University of Minnesota. During his education he received
many honors and awards, including the National Research Service
Award and the Joseph Collins Foundation Scholar Award. He was also
named a Kansas City Top Doctor of 2003 by Ingram’s magazine.
His clinical interests include advanced coronary interventions,
risk factor therapy, performance improvement/ quality assessments,
peripheral vascular disease and valvular heart disease. He has served
as the principal for several Kansas City Heart Foundation projects
including the ACTIVATE study to evaluate a novel medication to prevent
plaque progression. Dr. Hockstad lives with his wife and three daughters
in Kansas City.
Dr.
William Brodine, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Vice President is currently
the Chief of Cardiology for Research Medical Center, in addition
to practicing general cardiology and specializing and developing
the electrophysiology program at Research Medical Center and Kansas
City Cardiology Associates. He graduated from Lehigh University
in Pennsylvania summa cum laude with departmental honors in chemistry
and biology. He graduated from the University of Rochester School
of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. He then completed
his internal medicine internship and residency in Salt Lake City,
Utah, and was accepted to complete his cardiology fellowship in
Utah. He is also board certified in cardiac electrophysiology. During
his career he has received many awards and honors, including Outstanding
Internal Medicine House Officer Award, as well as being named fellow
in the American College of Cardiology in 1984 and the North American
Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology in 1986. More recently,
he has been named a Kansas City Top Doctor of 2000 by Ingram’s
Magazine. Kansas City Magazine listed him as one of Kansas City’s
Best Doctors in 2002. He has also had numerous articles published
in various medical journals. Dr. Brodine has recently published
an article in the American Journal of Cardiology. His current interest
includes radio frequency catheter ablations, ICD's and pacemakers,
Brugadas syndrome and Long QT Syndrome. He was the principal investigator
for the first Kansas City Heart Foundation study investigating the
use of defibrillators for patients with previous heart muscle damage
and low ejection fractions. He is married to Sue, who is a nurse
in the Kansas City area and has one son and two daughters.
Dr.
Lillard G. Ashley, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Secretary/Treasurer
became a part of Kansas City Cardiology Associates in 1999 and is
the medical director of Cardiology at Lee's Summit Hospital. He
received his undergraduate training at Oklahoma State University
and attended Meharry Medical College. He completed his internship
at George W. Hubbard Hospital in Nashville and did medical residency
and cardiology fellowship at the National Navy Medical Center in
Bethesda, Maryland. He has also served on the ICU and Ethics Committees
at Lee’s Summit Hospital and was the president of the Medical
Staff at Lee’s Summit Community Hospital and St. Joseph Health
Center. His clinical interests include pacemakers, HTN, heart failure
and vascular disease. His three children are grown, and he lives
with his wife in the Kansas City area.
